Haulin' in the Holler

Welcome to the second running of Haulin' in the Holler, a trail run through the beautiful single track trails of the West Virginia foothills in Putnam County. This event entails 5k, 25k, and 50k trail runs as well as a kids run hosted by the boys of Boy Scout Troop 164 Eleanor, WV and the West Virginia Mountain Trail Runners

Race Times: The 25k and 50k Races will begin at 7:30 AM with the 5k starting at 7:45 AM and the kids race begins at 8:45 AM


Location:The race will be located in Putnam County Park in Eleanor, WV.


Directions:From Charleston, WV Take Exit 40 (Rt 35 towards Point Pleasant)Take the Winfield exit (Rt 34) - first main exit on Rt 35. Turn right at bottom of the exit. Turn right on Rt 817 (stop light). Follow sign to Eleanor (right turn to cross bridge). At end of bridge turn left towards Eleanor. Once in town of Eleanor follow signs to Putnam County Park.


From Huntington, WV Take Exit 39. At stop light, turn left towards Winfield. Continue on Rt 34 to stop light (Wendy's on right). Turn right on Rt 817.Follow sign to Eleanor (right turn to cross bridge). At end of bridge turn left towards Eleanor. Once in town of Eleanor follow signs to Putnam County Park.


From Gallapolis, OH/Point Pleasant, WV Travel south on Rt 35. Turn left at Buffalo, WV bridge (Rt 62). At end of bridge, turn right onto Rt 62. Once in town of Eleanor follow signs to Putnam County Park.


Race Registration:Entry fees for 50k are $50 before February 23, 2013 and $60 before March 15, 2013.

Entry fees for 25k are $35 before February 23, 2013 and $45 before March 16, 2013.

Entry fees for the 5k are $20 before February 23, 2013 and $25 thereafter.

Entry fees for the kids run are $5

active duty military will receive 10% discount for race registration

Refunds on the 50k and 25k only will be granted minus $10 until March 1, 2013. No refunds after March 1.

Race registration For the 50K and 25K will close by March 15, 2013. 5K registration will close March 22, 2013. Registration for 5K can be done the night before the race at packet pickup. There will be no race day registration for any of the races except for the kids fun run. Kids Fun Run and will close by 8:00 AM on March 23, 2013. Race shirts for 5K and Kids run not guaranteed if registration received after March 15, 2013.

The 25K and 50K will be limited to 100 runners in each and the 5K is limited to the first 150 runners. once these limits have been reached or the registration deadline has passed, no other entries will be accepted


Shirts:50K runners will receive a long sleeve Patagonia shirt. These shirts come in mens and womens sizing Mens:S M L and XL, Womens: XS, S, M, L, and XL

25K runners will receive a silk weight short sleeve Patagonia Shirt.These shirts come in mens and womens sizing Mens:S M L and XL, Womens: XS, S, M, L, and XL

5K will receive a printed cotton T-shirt in sizes S, M, L, and XL.

Kids Fun Run receive printed cotton T-shirts in Child S, M, L, and XL


Restrictions: Kids Fun Run for 12 and under only

50K limited to those 18 and older


Packet Pickup:Packets can be picked up between 5:00 PM and 7:30 PM from the concession stand in Putnam County Park Fair Grounds near the race starting line and 5:30-7:15 AM Saturday March 23, 2013 at the concession stand in Putnam County Park in Eleanor.


25k/50k Aid Stations:The 5K will have one aid station located aproximately half-way stocked with water and electrolyte drink only. The 25K and 50K will have aid stattions around the 5, and 10 mile mark with one at the end of the first loop for the 50K runners stocked with water, electolyte drinks, sodas, potatoes, salt, and other ultra foods


Post-Race Meal: A post race meal will be offered beginning at 10:00 AM. Post-race meal is included For all runners.


Runner's Meeting:There will be a runner's meeting 5 minutes prior to the start of the 25k/50k race.


Drop Bags:50K runners may have drop bags that they can pick up at the aid station at the start/finish line (this will be the halfway point for 50K runner)Please make sure that drop bags are labeled with your name and number.


Awards:All runners will receive finish award. 5K, 25K, and 50K races will be top 3 overall male and female, top 2 male and female in each age group, and overall in each of the following categories: active duty military, veteran, masters, grandmasters, and supermasters

Awards will be given out for the 5K: 9:15 AM

25K: 12:30 PM

50K: 5:30 PM

Should you not be able to remain to get your award we will try to get it to you before you leave


Age Groups:50K: 18-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60 and over

5K/25K: 14 and under, 15-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60 and over

Kids race: 12 and under
